Belated Intro from ryanvade

Postby ryanvade » Sun Jun 16, 2013 1:26 pm

Well, I have been a member of this forum for almost a year now. I haven't introduced myself yet. ;oo Well, that is going to change.

Okay, about myself. I live in ryanvade @ Highland Illinois. An honor graduate, involved with a couple of tech and business clubs. I am on the deans list at South Western Illinois College. I am going to be attending Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville this fall, majoring in computer science. I spend most of my time reading, coding, helping people with technical support, and hanging out with friends. My favorite courses are Math and History, followed by science and social studies. I HATE language arts.

I have one brother, Nathan , and one sister ,Olivia. 2 dogs one standard Poodle and one miniature Poodle. Very smart and very loyal.

My favorite type of music is Jazz, and closely followed by classical. Yes, I like onerepublic too. I guess I like almost any kind of music, except rap.

Very proud to be a Moderator here and at UE central. I am on Google+ but refuse to be on Facebook or twitter. I just don't trust them. Google isn't as bad... Ryan Owens - Google+
I am trying to be a bigger part of the Linux community. Mostly with finding odd fixes for bugs. I am debating whether or not to join the Linux foundation with a student discount....

My fist computer was an HP pavilion. Later I broke it and my neighbor built me a computer for $200. It broke in a week, so I got a Compaq sr2163wm. That is the desktop in my sig after I modified it. Besides the desktop I also have an HP Pavilion 520W. I am running Arch server on that machine. In my closet is the monster... A powermac G4 I got from a computer graphics company for free. I NEVER use it. I just HATE apple computers. But what can I say? Free is Free. And last but not least is my favorite. My HP dv6t-7000 CTO. Also in my sig.
I first started using Linux back in 2008. Ubuntu was my first. Then I found Ultimate Edition (2.8). LOVED IT. Blackwolf got me with his "Do not click on the link" in his sig. Of course I clicked it and came here. Best forum ever!!!!1 Everyone is so nice!!! And helpful!!!

What else would anyone like to know? Already gave a life story:
Any advice on depression ??

A bit astonished that you use arch as your server .. no doubt it is the best distro for learning (easy than gentoo). But a Server..?

And Google to is data miner, they are more evil than FB. ;tears

You would be surprised. Arch as a server is awesome. Just samba file sharing, but still awesome. Arch uses less resources then Debian server and for some reason supports my old HP pavilion better. I am happy with it.

As for G+ vs FB. Both are bad sure. I am just more comfortable with G+. FB is to, um , Public? At least it feels to public to me. So I am on G+ only. Well, and skype too.

Yes I too find some support issues with Debian. And with arch you could do minimal installation smaller than Debian. BTW which field you are trying to take in CS masters.

Not sure yet. There are two paths, Science and Arts. More then likely I will go the science route.

This fall I'll give GRE and on my marks decide that . But aiming for first 20 universities atleast and would choose core programming field mostly. And if all goes well can get admitted for next years fall.
